Rick Copeland lives in
Colorado Springs, Colorado. Starting in 1974 Rick took a silversmith course through an adult education program. From then on he has been self taught with
occasional coaching and mentoring from fellow jewelers and silversmiths in the
Colorado region.
Rick creates one-of-a-kind jewelry. He works primarily with silver and
occasionally gold. Rick has developed his own organic style based on simplicity. He prefers to work with natural stone. Rick cuts and
polishes each stone into freeform cabochons then designs the jewelry around the stone with
an eye towards simplicity. Rick feels that he is framing what mother
nature created into a piece of wearable art. Rick's signature pieces are
his inlay work with Turquoise and Lapis.
Rick’s lapidary work is becoming
well know among jewelers, metal smiths, and bead artists. He cuts and polishes
thousands of stones a year and supplies them to his fellow artisans. He is an
expert in all facets of rock tumbling and can produce remarkable polishes on
stone.
Rick also has done work for known jewelry designers and repairs Native American jewelry.
Artists Statement:
"I prefer simplicity in my designs. The stone is my
inspiration, my
muse. My goal is to present the stone and metal in it's best possible form
and finish. The stone is the art; I am but the artisan."
Carrie Marsh lives in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Born and raised in New England, Carrie has worked in various artistic mediums
since she was a child. For many years her main mediums were textiles and
bead work. She took an art class in metalsmithing while in high school,
but never pursued the art form until the last couple of years.
Carrie likes working with the fine wires, stone beads, and faceted stones to
make filigree pieces that incorporate the lapidary work created by Rick. She
enjoys making everything from the simple to the elegant when it comes to her
jewelry. With an eye for color she takes pleasure in designing unique pieces
that blend silver, stones, and beads.
Artists Statement:
"I've always loved silver and stone. To me, each piece is an opportunity to
bring into being a one of a kind piece that reflects the elements I work with. I
enjoy using color and silver to enhance the natural stones. I also like the
diversity that this medium provides, making it easy to create distinctive pieces
of wearable art."
